Recorded and Mastered at The Twenty First - 2001-2003. REVIEWS: Highly recommended, this is an album that I am fully confident for me will not diminish over time. The poem I quoted above later concluded, "Something there is more immortal even than the stars..." What was Whitman referring to? I am not sure, though I'd love to believe he was thinking about music and the emotions it can evoke. Constellations is that album to help you connect to that sense of the numinous to which he eludes. Joe McGlinchey. Full review: GROUND AND SKY ... a stunning and unique fusion of rock, classical, progressive and orchestral styles. Fans of Hackett circa Spectral Mornings are encouraged to try Constellations, if only for its cover of Twice Around The Sun (from 1999s Darktown). Dave Ling CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE 'Constellations is Karda Estra's fourth album and if you like your music atmospheric and thought provoking then this album and indeed the band's catalogue will definitely appeal ... truly delightful! ' Alan Hewitt THE WAITING ROOM Richard Wileman hits the mark yet again with a classic album on the Cyclops label. In fact, in my humble opinion, it's the best on said label! Seven tracks all 'kind of' related in a concept of a tour of the stars... The moods, colours and overall 'feel' is incredibly satisfying... The production is rich and allows a kind of expansive feel to many of the passages. Awe, mystery and well realised aural painting allows the listener to get as close to Astral navigation as possible... The mix of guitars, keyboards, cor anglais, oboe, violin and the truly added bonus of Ileesha Bailey's vocals interweave to produce a truly satisfying album. Dave W Hughes MODERN DANCE ...dream-like passages of music that certainly could be classed as'Harmony of the spheres'... There's an over-riding sense of timelessness to the music on this album, and a deep sense of awe at what surrounds us in the cosmos... If you have heard Karda Estra's music before then you can buy this cd in confidence that it is a fine album that ranks with their finest. John M Peters THE BORDERLAND "...a very unique sound ... the music takes on a full cinematic quality... a strong release." Greg Northrup Featured album on: THE GIANT PROGWEED 'One of those release that gets under your skin, and you can't shake of, the mix of ambient, gothic and filmic atmospheres is topped off with a fabulous cover of Steve Hacketts "Twice Around The Sun". A keeper and a must have from one of the finest new classical / progressive composers around.' Start Hamilton ZEITGEIST Karda Estra go from strength to strength opening up progressive rock to classical ears (and vice versa). Richard Wileman has surely earned a place as one of the top UK present day classical composers and arrangers and is an inspiration to those with a love of classical and progressive rock. Constellations is a must have. Jem Jedrzejewski - full review: HAIRLESS HEART HERALD As with EVE, Constellations continues to define Karda Estra as one of the most original artists out there at the moment. Precision instrumentation, beautiful compositions and superb sound should make a believer out of the most jaded of music lovers. Simply one of the best of 2003. Lew Fisher PROGRESSIVE MUSIC SOCIETY ... one whole extra star is easily awarded for flawless executionthe classical musicians onhand are, pun intended, stellarand the albums impeccable production. Elias Granillo - full review: SEA OF TRANQUILITY Instrospective, thoughtful and tremendously focused in harmony. These are the three basic factors that fascinate me the most about this artists music. To sum, Constellations brings us music that is set for contemplating the beautiful... Nuno PROGNOSIS In fact, the entire album is brilliantly beautiful. Each track following the next, in what sounds a seamless and stunning effort. Rekkid Boy PROGRESSIVE EARS "To conclude all I will say is, buy this album, close your eyes and let this beautiful album of music take you away... Highly Recommended. Derek Daniel STORMBRINGER It's hard to make pastoral, gentle, lilting instrumental music without straying into sugary complacency, but throughout 'Constellations' the melodies are laced through with darker minor tones, or spiced with touches of fairground surrealism. Composer Richard Wileman has the deft touch that makes simple, mellow classical musings into haunting, emotionally rich dreamscapes. 'Constellations' has a timeless quality, and a sense of taste that you can take anywhere ... all of the ambivalent, wistful and slightly strange Victoriana of very early Genesis - especially the ghostly guitar work of solo Steve Hackett. Indeed, the album finishes with a Hackett cover, 'Twice Around The Sun'. Unlike many recent neo-classical recordings, most intrumentation appears to be the real thing, including oboe, flute, violin, cor anglais, and choir. 'Constellations' is pretty much that soaring, uplifting part of old school English prog, distilled out from all the rest and concentrated into six tracks. Karda Estra's best album yet; darkly mellow, not-quite-easy listening that I suspect will be embraced by more than the progressive underground. SEAN WORRAL, ORGAN |
